Hi Mama!
Well, it's been a
good week! It seems like any week in Escondido would be great. Dad hasn't
really mentioned much about the hospital or anything about Escondido, but I did
just get a package from him! It included the most beautiful picture of my new,
darling nephew! Which is now hanging on my wall above my bed. It's wonderful.
Ok, let's get to
the juicy stuff! I have so much to tell! Mauricio's baptism is this week and he
is so awesome. He is almost 17 but more like a 10 yr. old when we teach him,
because he's just not that educated, but that also means he has the faith of a
child! It's amazing! This last Sunday we committed him to fast with us and he
was pretty worried about going for 2 meals without eating. Well, we told him
that he would receive strength from the Lord if he did and what do you know, he
did! He said he woke up at 6 am pretty darn hungry, but said a prayer
and wasn't hungry for the rest of the day and he was full of energy! Also, he
has had a really hard time understanding the Book of Mormon (when he reads on
his own) because he has the education of a child, but since Sunday he
has read several pages and he understands it! He was telling us how great the
book is how great it is that God is helping him understand. Wow. Milagros Mama,
they are so real. And I have so many more!
Ok, first of all,
did I tell you last week that Patricia is getting baptized on the 22nd? Woot!
So I'm all excited to go back to Temecula for the baptismal service, right?
Well now it will be doubly amazing because Rene is getting baptized with her
that same day! GAH!! I am so stoked! I almost started crying here in the library
I was so excited and happy! He is such an amazing example to his family. J
We had Zone
Training yesterday (it was so small! There are only 12 people in my whole Zone,
including the Zone Leaders! Ha-ha) and it was fabulous. Hermana Schwegler did a
cool training as well (because she is the Sister Training Leader for this area
and Temecula) about studies. During the training, she had us read a chapter
from the BoM (1 Nefi 7). We talked about and learned new study ideas and
the importance of studying with a purpose, and then read the chapter again, but
this time studying it for our investigators. Hermana Sheffield and I received
some pretty awesome revelation for our new investigator Rosi during that
study, and it turned out that every companionship gained a lot of amazing
insights for their investigators as well. It was so cool because we seriously
found exactly what Rosi needs, and Hermana Schwegler was blown away at
everyone's answers about what they found because she just picked that chapter
randomly. She literally just asked her companion to pick a number between 1 and
22 and it happened to be 7, so we read 1 Nefi 7, which most people wouldn't
take to be a very amazing chapter anyway. It was so cool and the spirit was so
strong. I love the Book of Mormon, and I know it to be the word of God. It is
seriously a book of revelation.
So yeah, Rosi
and Saul, we will be seeing again tomorrow and we really
hope that everything we learned and gained will help us to teach to her
needs and desires and that we will be able to set a
baptismal date for her and her husband. They are one of the 4 new investigators
we picked up in the last week. Hopefully they can all progress and be amazing.
Hermana Sheffer and I (that's what the Latino's call her because they can't say
Sheffield - ha-ha) hope to stay together another transfer, but we'll see.
People keep saying I'll be staying and training again next transfer, but I'm
kind of hoping it's a rumor because I would love to stay with Hma Sheffer for a
while longer! And yes, I did mean to send that email to Hma Sheffield, ha-ha
sorry about that. I guess because I forwarded you those pictures from her email
last week when I pressed the "respond" button, it went to you instead
of her. Anyway...yeah, it's been a good week, but we are always so busy! I
guess God has been trusting us because we have been getting referrals up the
ying yang. We can't keep up! The work is so good here mama, I love it.
Tell Zach I'm sorry
and will hopefully write him soon! I seriously have letters from January that I
still haven't responded to yet. I am just so behind! I think while I was
training I only wrote one person (Kimi - for her birthday), oh yeah, and Paris,
but it was super short and was just asking him a question, and I just started
again today, trying to catch up with my other letters. I'm glad to hear his new
job is going great! I promise I'll write him soon, don't worry. Kirdy (Kirsten)
also wrote me so hopefully I'll have time to write her back, but I haven't
heard from Chaddy yet. Tell him to write me! He can even email me if he wants.
Any more pictures
of Benson Floyd lately? J Any verdict from Michael and Jodi
about where they will be staying? Glad to hear the workshop went well and I am
excited for your new grad students! They are getting an amazing teacher! To be
honest, the longer I'm on the mish, the more I wonder about what kind of
teacher I want to be. I'm not sure if I want to be a regular elementary teacher
or a specialist, you know? We'll see though. I don't have to decide today,
thankfully! And I'm grateful for this little extra time that the Lord has given
me to help me find out what exactly it is I want to be when I grow up ;)
Darn, I finally found
my little converter thing for my camera and was going to add some pics, but I
guess I need a converter for my converter and Hermana Sheffer forgot her camera
today. Oh well, I'm pretty much out of time anyway.
We are having a
Spanish Conference this Saturday with all the Spanish missionaries
and I am stoked! I'll let you know about it next week! I LOVE YOU MAMA!!
Con amor,
Hermana Alyssa
